L. f. intermedius JR56 January 11 & March 08 2009, Landfill VRSU de Colmenar Viejo, Madrid, Spain. Picture: Delfín González.

CR-Code Black JR56 & NOS 4257156
Lesser Black-backed Gull Larus fuscus
Sex Unknown Age Pullus
Date: 30 July 2006 at Nordfugløy, Karlsøy, Troms, Norway (70°16'51"N 020°13'31"E)

Ringed 4cy intermedius at the middle and at the end of the 2nd winter, ringed in N. Norway. Juvenile ringed birds from Troms region may turn out to be nominate fuscus, therefore it seems best to leave the subspecies undetermined until adult-like plumage. JR56 clearly follows the 'Atlantic flyway' on migartion and has the pale grey upperparts as expected for intermedius.
Completely grey upperparts (excepts single brown-grey feathers) and white tail. Outer primaries 3rd gen with obvious white tips and bare part coloration immature.
