Herring Gull (argentatus & argenteus)

Overall brown tone with only limited replaced scapulars by February. Barred central uppertail coverts. Large stocky bird with stronger (and longer looking) bill than Common Gull canus. Note broad tail-band and much dirty proximal vermiculation on all rectrices. Multiple barring on outerweb of R6.
