Adult male (M1 code), with partner in IJmuiden harbour and showing territorial behaviour. The bill has no black markings and the red gonydeal spot is confined to the lower mandible. The orbital ring is yellow-orange, the iris is yellow without speckling. The legs are flesh-coloured. The mirror on P10 merges with the tip, but there are small triangular spots on the edges. P9 has a complete sub-terminal band and P5 has a complete sub-terminal band, sharply demarcated. The black patch between the mirror and the white inner-web (the medial band)  on P10 is very broad along the edge of the inner-web. Argenteus normally shows such a broad medial band, where it is restricted in argentatus.
