Many inner wing-coverts were replaced once, already in the post-juvenile moult. Now they appear heavily worn.
The complete moult has commenced, not following a standard sequence, but picking up where moult was halted earlier, leaving the 2nd gen coverts in the inner section out of the process for a while (normally a location that is first in line).
