photo 6810: Yellow-legged Gull michahellis 2cy, October 01 2001, Le Portel, France.

The average moult stage for 2cy October michahellis: Primary P10 is fully grown and all the secondaries and rectrices are second generation and complete. Hence, the complete moult has ended. After this complete moult, a partial moult has included some of the tertials and wing-coverts.
The greater coverts show a dense variegated pattern on the old central and outer second generation feathers. The innermost greater coverts has been replaced for an almost completely grey feather with a brown shaft-streak. The moult sequence in the median coverts is complex: #1 is very old, #2 is new grey, #3 is old, #4 is new, #5 is old and the outer grater coverts are grey based with brown tips and some show a brown pronounced shaft streak. In both the lesser coverts and the lower lesser coverts, moult started in the central feathers. The scapulars appear almost completely plain grey. The upper two tertials have been replaced recently for greyish feathers, which have a brown hue.
