YLG 703J (L. michahellis) 1cy, November 25 2003, Montpellier, S France. Photo Ruud Altenburg.

703J has only replaced a few wing-coverts and tertials in the post-juvenile moult. All scapulars have been replaced for second generation feathers, including the rear lower scapulars, the ones covering the scapular coverts. In the upper scapulars, a subsequent moult to third generation feathers has started (1-25% replaced), with third generation grey-based feathers, with broad neat fringes.

The partial autumn moult included the upper tertial (missing in the right wing, all tertials juvenile in the left wing) and two greater coverts in the left wing (all greater coverts juvenile in the right wing). The innermost median covert has been replaced in the right wing, all medians in the left wing are juvenile. In both wings a few lower lesser coverts and a couple of inner lesser coverts have been replaced as well. All remiges and rectrices are still juvenile.

The bill is still completely dark.
