Metal ring on right tarsus, from Yamashina Institute for Ornithology in Japan. Code 11A-12.096 for Slaty-backed Gull. Probably ringed as pullus in 1999 - 2000, probably at Hokkaido - Nemuro Habomai Habomaimoshiri Island.

Ring code seem to match the code of a bird observed in 200402005 (see below). However, from this picture, the bird in 2012 has a heavier bill with more obvious gonys angle?

Pink base of bill, otherwise in adult plumage. Probably younger adult, sub-adult bird.
