An example of a very delayed moult strategy: many coverts and scapulars are old 2nd generation feathers which can easily be recognized by the very abraded fringes. Only a few coverts (innermost lower lesser covert and randomly some lesser coverts) have been replaced. Still, there are no adult-like plain grey feathers in the scapular region or in the mantle and the tertials are only 2nd generation feathers.
