Herring Gull (argentatus & argenteus)

Secondaries still juvenile. Active moult in primaries (complete moult in summer months): P5/P8. Many coverts renewed. Many coverts renewed. Missing central greater coverts expose base on secondaries lying underneath. Note greater covert row have two moult waves, one starting at outer feathers and another from inside.

P6 almost equal to P5 in length, now its time to shed tail feathers when birds follw "the common" moult sequence. Soon, S1, outermost secondary will be dropped in this bird.
