(last update: September 25, 2011 )

Herring Gull 2cy Y.ALM (argenteus) May 08 2010, Leiden, the Netherlands. Pictures: Maarten van Kleinwee.

Ringed as pullus on June 29 2009 at IJmuiden, The Netherlands.
Second-calendar year Herring Gull showing heavily worn first-generation wing feathers; the wing coverts have bleached to almost white and the greater coverts are worn so much that the underlying secondaries are clearly visible. The scapulars show a combination of brown and grey feathers. The iris is dark, the bill has a light pink base with a dark tip.
