It's a much less common feature than in Baltic Gull, but Heuglin's Gull too can replace all primaries on the wintering grounds. Currently this bird is actively moulting wing coverts to third generation feathers: most median coverts are missing. The head is 'moth eaten', so head feathers are currently being replaced as well. Note the contrast between the pale grey second generation inner primaries and black outer primaries. All secondaries and rectrices have been renewed as well.
