Cachinnans - nest Lelystad 047

General remarks:

  • Eggs: Volume measured by Stonehouse (1964) and Spaans & Spaans (1975), which make comparison possible with data from Texel (Camphuysen pers comm 16.04.2020).
  • Nest 047 positioned high on artificial breakwater dam 2, location is 17 meters east of blue sign, between Spoonbill nests (temporarily labeled "nest 13 2021", then renamed "47").
  • ID in 2021 uncertain: at least one of the partners is Caspian Gull cachinnans.

26-04-2021 1 parent at eggs. Constantly fights with Spoonbills, which nest within 1 meter. Therfore, no visit.
       
15-05-2021 Attacking parent. Nest is empty, but sound of chicks in vegetation. However, impossible to trace the chicks.
       
28-05-2021 No visit, nest was empty last week anyway.
       
08-06-2021 No chicks, no parent present / visible.
